一、教學目標: |
In this course students will develop business communication skills that will assist them to communicate effectively in the modern global economy.
The course will enhance students’ business communication skills in the following areas.
Financial Literacy – Learn the key business terms. To be successful in business you need to know the language of business. In addition students will gain an understanding of financial statements and how to interpret them.
Marketing – The internet has radically changed the face of how we communicate in business today. How we reach, nurture and maintain our business associates and grow our business depends on our ability to use the technology available to us. Most of everything needed to create and manage an effective marketing campaign is readily available to us. We just need to reach out and take it Having the knowledge and skills to take advantage of the technology readily available to us will help us to reach a wide audience with our marketing campaign. It will also help us to develop good business relationships that will flourish over the long term.
Social Media Marketing – Presidents use it, radical extremist terrorist groups use it, giant corporations use it,small businesses, everyone uses it in one form or another. There is no doubt about the power of social media to target, reach influence and persuade in the global business world. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Youtube and other social media provide us with a powerful and effective tool to grow our business if we know how to use it correctly. In this course students will gain understanding of how to effectively use the power of social media to grow and enhance their business. Real business experience will be used to broaden students’ knowledge of social media marketing and how to use it effectively to create and develop concrete business relationships.
Business Writing
Students will learn key techniques to develop business writing skills. In these days of email and social media good, professional and well organized writing is a key business skill. Business people are less likely to want to do business with you if your English business writing is of a low standard. In this course students will develop good business writing skills. Real world examples of business writing of executive summaries, business plans and contracts will be shared with the class. Students will be given examples of good and bad email writing.
Business Speaking and Conversation
Through participation and practice the textbook provided will enhance students business vocabulary sentence patterns and business grammar. Students will be encouraged to deliver presentations in groups. A new topic will be given to students every second week to prepare and present to the class.
Advanced Financial Terms
Advanced financial terminology from real world business experience will be discussed with the class. Students will be introduced to agreements terms such as CIS, KYC, LOI, FPA, DOA etc. Students will also gain understanding of the business of high finance such as Bank Guarantees, Letters of Credit, Medium Term Notes and others.

三、課程選修條件: |
Basic level of English proficiency for students. Students are required to participate in all aspects of the class by asking and answering questions and participating in group activities. Students are encouraged to use the textbook and media at home to get maximum benefit from the course. It is not feasible to fully cover all aspects of the textbook and exercises in the short nine week course. Therefore the depth of knowledge and understanding should come from the effort put into the class in the student’s own time, including: reading the course material, doing the writing and listening exercises and preparing the group presentations.

Two (2) quizzes based on textbook provided quizzes. 2 X 10 = 20% of final grade.
