一、教學目標:
Course description

In the new era of fast technological development, students need new literacy to understand and communicate with the world around them. In terms of the fact that technology has brought great change to the way of human communication and interaction, literacy ability in the old concept, that is the ability of reading and writing, is efficient to face the new change. Multiliteracies is a pedagogical approach developed in 1994 by the New London Group that aims to make classroom teaching more inclusive of cultural, linguistic, communicative, and technological diversity. They advocate this so that students will be better prepared for a successful life in a globalized world. The course will introduce the concept and definition of multiliteracies and then move on to describe multiliteracies in the following two aspects: the literacy for linguistic and cultural diversities and that for new technologies of communication.


Course objectives

1. Students being able to know the concept of multiliteracies. (Knowledge-oriented)
2. Student being able to have skills to comprehend diverse Englishes. (skill-oriented)
3. Students being able to use new technologies for self-expression and interpersonal interaction and communication. (skill-oriented)
4. Students being able to cultivate positive attitudes toward Englishes spoken other than the native English speakers. (attitude-oriented)
