一、教學目標：
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to a variety of British and American modern poetry. Since our time is limited, I will look at quite a number of shorter, more accessible (understandable) poems, but we will read some longer and more difficult ones as well.

Ideally, students will have some familiarity with modern British and American poetry so re-encountering won't seem so difficult. If the student is new to it, however, it should still be accessible with commentary provided by the teacher and close study by the student.
